Featuring poetry by Andrew McMillan
Sunday 29 July, 6pm
Stoller Hall, Manchester
Join The Sunday Boys for their much anticipated summer gig for an evening of music, singing and celebration as they reflect on their relationship with Manchester and the journey their beloved city has taken them on.
Featuring lyrics from Manchester based poet Andrew McMillan and set to music by The Sunday Boys' Musical Director Michael Betteridge, this special gig will feature three original compositions based on The Sunday Boys' real-life experiences of Manchester, the city they call home.
The evening will feature a varied and exciting programme of original composition and arrangements such as; Leather by Tori Amos, Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, I Carry Your Heart with Me by David Dickau and I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross among many others. The concert also features one original composition of four movements set to the lyrics of Andrew McMillan entitled the body is a choir room.
Written around the themes of arrival, exploration, settling down and ageing, The Sunday Boys will take you on a musical journey on their perspective on this unique city.
The Sunday Boys are Manchester’s male voice sensation, an unauditioned, inclusive male voice choir with a majority gay identifying membership that rehearse on Sunday evenings in central Manchester.
Since their conception, The Sunday Boys have grown from small beginnings to a choir 60+ strong and have performed at prestigious gigs throughout the city and beyond.
