Songwriter or songwriting team- Autumn 2022

Songwriter or songwriting team for Blackpool music video project, The Sunday Boys

The Sunday Boys are a low voiced, open access LGBTQ+ choir based in the city of Manchester. We are looking for a songwriter or a songwriting team to create a piece of music for a choral music video for a collaboration between The Sunday Boys choir and a newly formed queer choir in Blackpool.

We are looking for a songwriter or songwriting team with strong connections to Blackpool who want to work in a collaborative way with our newly formed Blackool choir, as well as The Sunday Boys choir in Manchester, to create a new queer song to form part of a music video. We welcome music creatives from any background who have experience creating music for live singers. Mentorship and support, if needed, will come from The Sunday Boys Artistic Director Michael Betteridge.

We particularly welcome applications from LGBTQ+ voices who are currently underrepresented amongst the choir’s membership including those from the global majority, women, and trans people.

Songwriters, or songwriting teams, with experience of collaboration and co-creation are encouraged to apply, however, mentorship and support will be available for those who have not worked in this way before.

We are currently in the process of preparing an Arts Council England bid and looking for someone to be named on the application. Because this work is currently not guaranteed (although very likely) and we are aware of the constraints on artists’ time, we ask interested writers to fill in this short form telling us about them and their work:

We will potentially invite a handful of artists to a short interview arranged at a mutually convenient time. Fees will be discussed once a writer is chosen in line with industry standards.

Applications close 9am on Monday 16th May

"It is special to be part of something that is so good. I feel really proud"

"I feel connected to a community I didn’t feel part of before"
